Ep. 17: Ryan Vizzions

This week, Aja catches up with Atlanta-based photojournalist Ryan Vizzions, best known for his work in documenting the historical Dakota Access Pipeline protests at Standing Rock in his 2019 book ‘No Spiritual Surrender: A Dedication to the Standing Rock Movement.’ More recently, Ryan and his work were involved in putting public pressure on Atlanta officials to enforce restrictions on the Beltline during the coronavirus outbreak. The two discuss Ryan’s experience, the current political atmosphere, and Gov. Brian Kemp’s leadership in Georgia, as well as recovery and how to stay sane in messed up times. Prior to the interview, Aja gives a review on recent developments in Georgia — particularly the state’s newest emerging COVID-19 hotspot in northeast Georgia.
