WELCOME TO THE MAINLINE

“The Mainline makes important and relevant issues accessible and relatable to readers. It’s mission to uplift young progressive Southern voices comes at a crucial moment where trust in traditional outlets is waning. The Mainline injects new thinking around the divisive politics impacting our lives, while marrying the work of local artists and writers in one refreshing publication. The Mainline is the outlet we deserve.”

The Mainline is an independent women-led magazine based in Atlanta, Ga., and is recognized as the city’s only antiracist and antifascist labor press. It seeks to embody the tenets held by abolitionist papers throughout history by intentionally engaging audiences through education and messages that continuously disrupt the status quo and corporatized media. Our coverage is inspired both by guidance from abolitionist, author, and organizer Mariame Kaba and the vision of media reparations as presented by Media 2070.

INDIGENOUS LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

FOR ATLANTA, GEORGIA
We would like to acknowledge that The Mainline was founded, built, and continues to work and reside on the ancestral native lands of the Muscogee Creek Nation. In a sincere effort to learn more about the land on which we have been shown generosity and abundance in solidarity and life, we begin with an acknowledgement and mindfulness of the colonialism and forced removal of the Muscogee Tribe from this land under the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The Muscogee Nation is now based Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and is one of the five Civilized Tribes and is the fourth largest tribe in the U.S. with 86,100 citizens. For more information, go here.

FOR SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
We would like to acknowledge that much of our work is presently recorded and created on the unceded ancestral lands of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present and honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe. (Source: Duwamish Tribe.)

The Mainline does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender and/or sexuality expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin, citizenship status, disability, marital status, or military status, in any of its activities and operations. Further, we will not publish or support any oppressive, violent, or hate-fueled causes, organizations, or content that are not aligned with supporting basic, equal human rights and social justice for all.
